PHAROS AI Factory at HUMANNERA Stage 2025

PHAROS AI Factory, Greece’s national ecosystem for accelerating Artificial Intelligence innovation, participated in the HUMANNERA STAGE 2025, held on 30 October 2025.

Organized by HUMANNERA, a non-profit and non-governmental organization that promotes humanitarian values and youth-driven cultural transformation, this year’s conference brought together leaders from corporations, NGOs, and governmental institutions to engage with the country’s youth on critical issues related to the environment, humanity, leadership and the future of work.

Representing PHAROS: The Greek AI Factory, Stelios Karozis, Deputy Technical Coordinator of PHAROS and Research Fellow at the Environmental Research Laboratory of the NCSR Demokritos and, participated in the panel discussion “AI Ethics / Digital Empathy & AI Bias: Can Technology Understand People?”.

The panel was moderated by Roi Filou and Katerina Kapetanaki, with a focus on building technology that genuinely serves people. The discussion explored essential ethical dimensions of Artificial Intelligence, including the design of systems guided by empathy rather than efficiency, the detection and correction of algorithmic bias, and the extent to which machines can truly comprehend human experience or simply mirror human assumptions.

In his intervention, S. Karozis underlined the pivotal role of PHAROS AI Factory in advancing responsible and trustworthy AI in Greece and Europe, scaling tools, datasets and platforms that empower startups, researchers and institutions to drive innovation aligned with ethical principles. 

Through this participation, PHAROS reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to promoting ethical and trustworthy Artificial Intelligence that aligns with human values and societal priorities. By bridging research excellence, innovation capacity and public policy, PHAROS supports Greece’s and Europe’s vision for a sustainable, inclusive and human-centered digital era.
