PHAROS AI Factory, Greece’s national ecosystem for accelerating Artificial Intelligence innovation, participated in the PSValueTalks 2025, an initiative of PostScriptum, held on Tuesday 11 November 2025, at the National Gallery, Athens. S. Kollias, GRNET Chairman, Prof. Emeritus at NTUA and Coordinator of PHAROS AI Factory, took part in the session ‘’Cultural and Creative Sectors in the Age of Artificial Intelligence’’ with a presentation titled ‘’PHAROS the Greek AI Factory – the Culture sector’’.
In this session, the discussion highlighted the ways in which Artificial Intelligence is reshaping cultural production and creative practice opening new opportunities for innovation, experimentation and empowerment of creators. At the same time, it examined the challenges that accompany the rapid advancement of AI technologies, including intellectual property constraints, access to reliable and high-quality data, concerns about accuracy, cultural bias and deepfakes, as well as the need for appropriate infrastructures and skills that enable creators to work effectively with AI.
S. Kollias outlined the most promising applications of AI in the cultural and creative sectors, as envisioned within the mission of PHAROS. These include next-generation creative support, music composition and production, cultural heritage restoration, AI-assisted artistic creation, and new approaches to exhibition curation that enhance visitor engagement. He also referred to advances in digital publishing and to the importance of ethical and responsible AI that respects intellectual property rights. These directions align with the preparatory actions of the EU Apply AI Strategy, which seeks to strengthen Europe’s capacity to develop domain-specific AI applications.
He also addressed the obstacles that must be overcome for AI to be fully and responsibly integrated into the cultural domain, from rights management and data accessibility to trustworthiness, bias mitigation and the development of creator-focused AI infrastructures, models and skill sets.
Through PHAROS, Greece is developing a robust national framework for AI that supports the cultural ecosystem, fosters creativity and ensures that technological innovation serves as an enabler for human imagination and cultural expression.
