The Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) is one of Greece’s leading multidisciplinary research centres, founded in March 2000 as a non-profit legal entity governed by private law and supervised by the General Secretariat for Research and Innovation (GSRI) of the Greek Ministry of Development. CERTH’s mission is the promotion of innovative research for the benefit of society, operating at the forefront of basic, applied, and technological research to address contemporary societal and economic challenges at national and international levels.

CERTH operates through five (5) specialised institutes covering key strategic domains, including clean energy and low/zero CO₂ emission technologies, Artificial Intelligence, advanced robotics, ICT, smart mobility and transport systems, biosciences and holistic health technologies, agro-technology, and circular economy solutions, transforming scientific knowledge into innovative applications through advanced research infrastructures and expertise.

Within PHAROS – The Greek AI Factory, CERTH participates as an affiliated partner under GRNET, contributing to key project tasks that enhance the PHAROS service portfolio and its real-world impact. CERTH supports the development of business innovation support services for startups, SMEs, and researchers, alongside the provision of specialised training programmes that build capacity for the deployment and management of AI technologies. In parallel, CERTH contributes to the development of AI-based services for healthcare, leveraging national and international health data repositories to advance biomedical research and healthcare delivery, as well as AI services tailored to the Greek language and cultural sectors, enabling culturally aware, language-specific applications with practical impact.

Through this engagement, CERTH accelerates the translation of advanced AI research into high-impact services across strategic sectors, strengthening Greece’s R&D presence within the European research and innovation ecosystem.
