EuroCC@Greece HPC Training Series – Course 19 “OpenMP for Shared-Memory Parallel Programming – Hands-On”, on January 26th, 2026

EuroCC@Greece announced the 19th Course of HPC Training Series with the subject “OpenMP for Shared-Memory Parallel Programming – Hands-On”, taking place online on January 26th, 2026.

Audience: Suitable for Students / researchers / engineers with:

  •     Basic C/C++ or Fortran knowledge,
  •     Basic familiarity with Linux and batch systems (Slurm),
  •     Access to Linux/WSL environment, and
  •     GCC compiler with OpenMP support

 

Course Description: This hands-on seminar provides a practical introduction to OpenMP, focusing on how to incrementally parallelise existing serial code using a simple and portable shared-memory programming model. Participants will learn the core OpenMP concepts, including parallel regions, worksharing, data scoping, synchronisation, and performance considerations such as scheduling and NUMA effects, supported by hands-on examples in C/C++ and Fortran.
