Pharos AI Factory at the Digital World Summit Greece 2025 – AI Realities: Policy, Power & Possibilities

Pharos AI Factory participated in the Digital World Summit Greece 2025, held on Thursday, May 22nd, 2025, at the Technopolis City of Athens, Amphitheater “Miltiadis Evert,” to discuss global developments in the AI landscape and contribute to emerging policies that address the needs of the Greek technology ecosystem.

The purpose of the summit was to highlight global technological developments in Artificial Intelligence, to help co-shape policy proposals to be submitted to institutions such as the United Nations, the European Commission, and the European Parliament and to cultivate an ecosystem of engaged stakeholders, leading experts and representatives of organizations directly connected to the fields of technology and innovation.

The conference focused on three key pillars:

  • Opportunities and challenges for Greece as a hotspot of technological progress
  • The next steps in AI evolution and best practices
  • Ethical development and use of Artificial Intelligence

Discussions featured experts from the public and private sectors, as well as the research and academic community, emphasizing the latest AI developments both nationally and globally.

Pharos AI Factory, a project coordinated by GRNET S.A. – National Infrastructures for Research and Technology, under the auspices of the Ministry of Digital Governance, was a key focus in two panel discussions, represented by two members of GRNET’s Board of Directors:

  • Stefanos Kollias, Professor Emeritus at NTUA & Chairman of GRNET & Pharos AI Factory Project Coordinator, joined the panel “Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities and Challenges for Greece as a Hotspot of Technological Progress” | 11:15 – 12:30.
  • Dimitris Katsianis, Assistant Professor at NKUA & Deputy Chairman of GRNET, joined the panel “Safe Development and Use of Artificial Intelligence” | 15:30 – 15:45.


The Digital World Summit Greece contributes to the global Internet Governance Forum (IGF) Network and promotes digital innovation and growth in Greece, offering a platform for dialogue among institutional representatives, government, and stakeholders on issues of digital governance.

The conference was held under the auspices of the United Nations, the Ministry of Digital Governance, and the Municipality of Athens, further strengthening its role at both national and international levels.
