PHAROS AI Factory at HPC Continuum 2026

PHAROS AI Factory, Greece’s national ecosystem for accelerating Artificial Intelligence (AI) innovation, participated in the HPC Continuum 2026 Conference, held from 6–8 July 2026 at the University of Luxembourg’s Belval Campus, joining leading researchers, industry representatives and policymakers to explore the future of High-Performance Computing (HPC), Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing.

The three-day international conference addressed emerging trends across the computing continuum through dedicated thematic sessions on AI-driven HPC, industry–academia collaboration, and AI & Quantum technologies. Organised alongside the EUMaster4HPC Summer School, the event also provided opportunities for knowledge exchange with early-career researchers and the global HPC community, bringing together experts from more than 23 countries.

As part of the AI and Quantum Day programme on 8 July, Dr. Xenia Ziouvelou, Head of the AI Politeia Lab,, Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications, NCSR “Demokritos”, represented PHAROS AI Factory in the panel discussion “AI Factories: Trustworthy AI as a Business Enabler – From Compliance to Scale.”

Moderated by Dr. Lilit Axner from the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU), the session brought together experts from four AI Factories and AI Factory Antennas, alongside representatives from public authorities, to discuss how trustworthiness can accelerate innovation and help organisations deploy AI solutions with confidence.

The panel featured Michael Löffler (AI Factory Austria – AI:AT), Sadia B. (CNPD – Commission nationale pour la protection des données), Maxime Cordy (SnT – Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust & Luxembourg AI Factory), Peter Woods (Ireland’s AI Factory Antenna & ICHEC – Irish Centre for High-End Computing), and Xenia Ziouvelou (NCSR “Demokritos” & PHAROS AI Factory).

The discussion explored the role of Europe’s AI Factories in enabling the development and deployment of trustworthy AI by combining advanced computing infrastructures with robust governance, regulatory compliance and innovation ecosystems. Panellists highlighted that trustworthy AI is not only essential for meeting regulatory requirements but also a strategic enabler for innovation, business competitiveness and Europe’s AI sovereignty.

Representing both PHAROS AI Factory and the European AI on Demand Platform (AIoD), Xenia Ziouvelou contributed to the discussion on how AI Factories can help organisations scale reliable, transparent and human-centric AI solutions that businesses and society can trust.

PHAROS’ participation at HPC Continuum 2026 reinforced Greece’s active contribution to Europe’s AI and HPC ecosystem, strengthening collaboration across the European AI and HPC communities and advancing the development and adoption of trustworthy AI through next-generation computing infrastructures.
