The European Union has established 13 new AI Factories that offer free, customised support to SMEs and Startups

In a significant move to bolster artificial intelligence (AI) innovation across Europe, the European Union has launched 13 state-of-the-art AI Factories. These facilities provide free, tailored support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups, facilitating access to advanced computing resources and expertise. The initiative aims to democratise AI development, foster regional innovation, and enhance Europe’s competitiveness in the global AI landscape.

The 13 AI Factories are strategically located across the continent:

  • AIF Austria – Austria
  • BRAIN++ – Bulgaria
  • HammerHAI – Germany
  • JAIF – Germany
  • AIF2 – France
  • Pharos – Greece
  • IT4LIA – Italy
  • Meluxina-AI – Luxembourg
  • BSC AIF – Spain
  • MIMER – Sweden
  • PIAST AIF – Poland
  • SLAIF – Slovenia
  • LUMI AIF – Finland

The AI Factories are part of the European High-Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) initiative, co-funded by the EU and the participating countries. They are designed to provide SMEs and startups with access to cutting-edge AI technologies, training, and support services, thereby accelerating AI adoption and innovation across various sectors.
