PHAROS AI Factory, Greece’s national ecosystem for accelerating Artificial Intelligence innovation, was presented as part of a special tribute by the Greek television channel SKAI TV, within its Prime Time programme titled “Artificial Intelligence: The Invisible Mind”, which aired on Tuesday 17 March 2026, with journalist Korina Georgiou.
The documentary examined the rapidly evolving role of Artificial Intelligence across society, science and innovation, highlighting key initiatives shaping Greece’s AI ecosystem, including PHAROS, while also addressing the opportunities, challenges and limits of AI and its impact on human society.
The programme brought together representatives of the PHAROS consortium, along with distinguished contributors to Greece’s AI ecosystem, offering insights into the country’s evolving AI landscape, including the Minister of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence, D. Papastergiou, the Special Secretary for Artificial Intelligence and Data Governance at the Ministry of Digital Governance, V. Karkatzounis, D. Hassabis, Nobel laureate neuroscientist and AI pioneer, Prof. S. Kollias, Professor Emeritus at NTUA, Chairman of GRNET and Coordinator of PHAROS, Prof. N. Koziris, Professor at NTUA and National Representative for EuroHPC, A. Nousias, Legal Consultant and Research Associate at NCSR “Demokritos”, A. Krithara, Researcher at NCSR “Demokritos”, Prof. I. Chatjigeorgiou, Rector of NTUA, and K. Georgiou, Software Engineer.
In this context, the documentary highlighted that PHAROS and its core computing platform, the new national supercomputer DAEDALUS -both coordinated by GRNET- constitute a major step towards establishing Greece’s own AI and high-performance computing infrastructures. These initiatives enable access to advanced computing resources for academia, research and industry, support the development and training of AI models, and strengthen innovation capacity while ensuring data sovereignty.
PHAROS’ presence in this national broadcast highlights its role as a central hub for AI innovation in Greece, contributing to the development of a dynamic, inclusive and forward-looking ecosystem.
