April marked another important milestone month for the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking, with significant developments across AI Factories, quantum computing, and Europe’s federated supercomputing infrastructure.
Amongst the major highlights was the inauguration of Lucy, the new EuroHPC quantum computer in France, strengthening Europe’s quantum computing capabilities and technological sovereignty. Read more here.
EuroHPC JU also continued expanding Europe’s AI-optimised supercomputing landscape through the signing of new procurement contracts for advanced AI systems in Sweden and Italy. In Sweden, a new supercomputer will power the Mimer AI Factory, supporting cutting-edge AI development and innovation. Read more here.
Meanwhile, the IT4LIA AI Factory in Italy will deploy a dedicated AI-optimised system designed primarily for startups and SMEs, while also supporting the wider research community under European data sovereignty and privacy standards. Read more here.
In Ireland, EuroHPC JU and the University of Galway launched the tender process for CASPIr, a new mid-range EuroHPC supercomputer that will support AI, machine learning, and advanced simulation workloads. Read more here.
April also marked the first release of the EuroHPC Federation Platform, a unified access portal designed to streamline access to Europe’s supercomputing resources and strengthen connectivity across the EuroHPC ecosystem. Read more here.
In parallel, EuroHPC JU launched a new call promoting cooperation amongst AI Factories and AI Factory Antennas to foster collaboration, trust, and wider access to European AI resources and services. Read more here.
