PHAROS AI Factory featured on Star Channel’s “Star Tech” programme

PHAROS AI Factory, Greece’s national ecosystem for accelerating Artificial Intelligence innovation, was featured on Star Channel’s television programme Star Tech, where the Special Secretary for Long-Term Planning of the Government and Coordinator of the Artificial Intelligence Committee, Yannis Mastrogeorgiou, joined journalist Nefeli Agkyridou to discuss Greece’s preparedness for the Artificial Intelligence era.

During the feature, emphasis was placed on Greece’s evolving national AI strategy and the country’s position amongst the first seven European countries to establish an AI Factory, with PHAROS highlighted as an ecosystem designed primarily to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) developing AI applications in the fields of sustainability, energy and climate, health, and culture and the Greek language. Particular reference was also made to the importance of developing AI technologies tailored to the Greek language, recognising its unique semantic and cultural depth beyond conventional translation approaches, an effort undertaken by PHAROS in collaboration with the Greek Ministry of Culture.

The discussion also focused on DAEDALUS, the new national supercomputer coordinated by GRNET, which constitutes the core computing infrastructure of PHAROS and is expected to rank amongst the world’s TOP500 supercomputers. Scheduled to become fully operational by summer 2026 at the Lavrio Technological and Cultural Park, DAEDALUS will provide advanced computing resources, datasets and secure testing environments to support AI innovation and research in Greece.

The feature further underscored PHAROS’ role as a key pillar of Greece’s emerging AI ecosystem and its contribution to a dynamic and future-oriented AI landscape.
